Nexus - Partners in Travel "Buddy" Service

The 'partners' in travel service provides training for adults with learning disabilities who live in Gateshead:

This project is funded by Nexus, working in partnership with Gateshead Community Based Services:
One to one support is provided to use the bus or Metro:

The training will include:
Personal safety: Following directions: Road safety:Getting on the correct bus or Metro and much more:

You must meet one or more of the following crteria:
Have a learning disability and live in Gateshead:
Be moving into independant living:
Wanting to travel to work or college:
Have an idea of what type of skills you need to travel; such as Money, Time, Type of travel.

All volunteers are trained to help you travel:These people will have Police clearance:
Extensive training, including first aid:
Carry mobile phones:
Have emergency contact details for you:
