NHS South of Tyne are holding a stakeholder event for prople with ABI, their families and carers. They are planning to hold an event in November to discuss how they as a PCT would like to improve thier services for people who have this long term condition. They know their services are variable across South of Tyne and Wear, so they would like to change this for the better. They would really like you to come and join us to discuss how we improve the type of services we have across Sunderland, South Tyneside and Gateshead. The event will be based around group work and they are very keen that people give them their view where changes to existing and future services are discussed. The event is planned for Friday 13th November from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The event will involve professionals in the services across the three areas and experiences from a number of patients/carers. Our next group meeting will be on Tuesday 7th July. After the success of our recent summer party we will be having a quiz and social evening this month at Gateshead Carers. We will also be hearing more about the national Headway "Way Ahead" training and networking weekend event from the representatives from our group who are registered to attend. There will be plenty of opportunity to catch up with friends, meet new people and to talk to others about your experiences. L Briggs On 26/01/09 the Headway Gateshead Committee held a strategy/planning day at Irwin Mitchell's office in Newcastle. ]]> The event was facilitated by Alastair White (Headway's North East Regional Co-ordinator) and it turned out to be very informative and interesting. The committee has two new members Alistair McDonald (Chair) and Jackie Waggott (Treasurer). The result of the day is that we now have a firm strategy and set of targets for the short, medium and long term.
